Zendala Dare #23

Zendala Dare #23

As mentioned in the Diva’s challenge post, I have been a lump, but I still wanted to do the Zendalla dare, but was having trouble getting started. I had already done the random tangles, so I came up with something new. So I opened my 106 tangles book from Rick & Maria and started at the beginning. Of course I did not get all 106 in this week, but I figure for the next few dares I’ll keep going till I am through all of the official patterns. Should keep me busy a few weeks at least. I choose to avoid color and only did minimal shading, all in all I am a fan of how this turned out.

Well with the loss of pops, I have been pretty much a lump the last week. For this challenge I decided I wanted something bold, and with just a couple patterns. I know in Zentangle® there are no mistakes, but I made a couple here, and did not like this when I finished it, but as often happens it grew on me so here is my tile for the challenge this week.

For Jack (Dad)

As some of you may be aware my father passed away yesterday around 6:00 A.M. I felt the need to sit down today and create a piece of Zentangle® Inspired Art for him. I was not sure what I would do, so I started like you do with any tangle. First I added a border. Then a string, the string ended up with a spiral type pattern, with six other areas around the spiral. This made my decision for patterns easy, I decided to make the spiral represent mom and dad finally joined together again in the eternal dance. The other six sections would represent each of the six kids. I selected a tangle for each section that started with the first letter of each persons name.  I stuck with the original 106 patterns that are in the Guide I have.

Patterns and Names
Dad: (John):      Jonqal - Starts with Jon, and looks almost like a dance floor.
Mom (Vivian):  Vega - Creates a feel of pillars to to, and mom was the pillar of the family.
Saundra:           Static
John:                Juke
Mike:               Mysteria
Rodger:           Raddox
Joellen:            Jetties
Roy (Me):       Rick's Paradox

Here it is, I hope you like it wherever you are dad.

Weekly Challenge #86 "Break Free!"

Weekly Challenge #86 "Break Free!"

After the morning I had today, this challenge was sorely needed. I jumped into it with a gusto, and am very pleased with the results. I decided to start with Aura-Knot (I have been using it a lot I know.) And for the initial break free I added Squid, and wove it through the knot. After doing this I decided to push the border further and added a background that went all the way to the edge of the tile, removing the border all together. I decided to push a little further and add a little color. I love, love, love the finished tile, even if I am still a little anti-color, in my zentangle®. Here is the tile turned in two different directions.

I Hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

Weekly Challenge #85: UMT v. VIII: Copada

Weekly Challenge #85: UMT v. VIII: Copada

OK, so I am a little late in doing the challenge this week. It has been a busy week, and with the stress I am under due to my dad's failing health, I should be doing a lot more tangling. Today, I have done a lot of tangles, but the rest of the week has been mixed between being busy, and vegging.

Tonight I told myself I'd do this weeks challenge, so with out further comment I present "The Copada Under the Bed", sorry it looks like a monster to me. Which is not a bad thing.

Zendala Dare #22 – Monodala

Ok when I saw the Zendala Dare #22 I got a little excited, this dare merged two things I have grown to love, Zendalas and Monotangles. I had to resist the urge to do my favorite Tangle, and my go to tangle since I attended CZT-9 which is Indy-Rella. So I let chaos reign and decided to go completely random. I went to Tanglepatterns.com and had excel choose a random number for me from 1 to 26 [=ROUNDUP(RAND()*(26-1)+1,0)] the result was 23, the letter V. The letter V has nine patterns currently so I had Excel choose another number for me [=ROUNDUP(RAND()*(9-1)+1,0)]the result this time was 5, which meant Verve was my pattern.
This was a mixed blessing, I happy as it was a pattern I had not used before, but I was really wanted something I could do more Tangleation of. Though it was a pattern I was not very familiar with I am very happy with the outcome. It almost reminds me of a curvy Rick’s Paradox.
            Hope you enjoy this.

OK - I was walking the dog tonight, and it hit me that I should do a second Monodala.... I felt that I should attempt it in Auoraknot, so here is the second Monodala.

Zendala Dare # 21

Well as it was the Zendala class that really drew me into the wonderful world of Zentangle® it was justa  matter of time before I decided to join in the Zendala Dare. below is my Zendala  for this weeks dare. I tend to be a purist and stick to black and white, but this called for a little red highlighting.
