Weekly Challenge #86 "Break Free!"
After the morning I had today, this challenge was sorely needed. I jumped into it with a gusto, and am very pleased with the results. I decided to start with Aura-Knot (I have been using it a lot I know.) And for the initial break free I added Squid, and wove it through the knot. After doing this I decided to push the border further and added a background that went all the way to the edge of the tile, removing the border all together. I decided to push a little further and add a little color. I love, love, love the finished tile, even if I am still a little anti-color, in my zentangle®. Here is the tile turned in two different directions.
I Hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

Very cool - love how the squid arms wrap around the points of the auraknot!!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, in both directions. Your auraknot is awesome. And I really like the colorful background.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! You really "broke" free!!!!
ReplyDeletevery cool, roy! it looks totally different when you turn it - and i like the touch of color!
ReplyDeleteFabulous, Roy!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Auraknot!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how much fun this was to do, I love how you weave the ribbons.
This is a spectacular tile!
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
ReplyDeleteCool! I've been trying out auraknot myself, but not in this challenge.
ReplyDeleteGreat! It's like the Auraknot floats in teh universe.
ReplyDeleteLooking how you did it, no pencil used??? I am impressed!!!!!
ReplyDeleteReally inspiring! I love how you interweave squid into and around auraknot! That sure must have taken a lot of concentration. And your background, with color is just right.
ReplyDeleteAnother great interpretation of the challenge. The blue interwave breaking free out of the auraknot.
ReplyDeleteAnd how different the tiles look just by turning them around. Great.
Looks great. I love the dimension you have achieved in the auraknot with your shading. curly squid looks great, too :)
ReplyDeleteThis is super whichever way you look at it.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done. Love your strong graphic wallpaper back effect, very effective!
ReplyDeleteThis piece is amazing! The contrast in the background gives it the perfect element of drama against a very well composed auraknot, then softened with the sweet pink and soft blue....and the squid just giving it a touch of curving lines and mystery! Fantastic balance!
ReplyDeleteOh I love auraknot and you did it beautifully and I love the squid tangling and embracing the star! Really a fun piece--well done!
ReplyDeleteNice job! You broke free of all sorts of borders!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteTo me this looks like a pin wheel trying to break free and fly high ...beautiful indeed :)
ReplyDeleteI really like how you incorporated squid. This is just amazing work. You really did break free.
ReplyDeleteRoy Just love the way you have combined the squid and the auraknot!!
